THIS PAGE IS DEDICATED TO THE HARD WORKING COMPETITORS ON ‘TEAM EPIC’
I am happy to report that two of my original EPIC students have been winning multiple Grand Championships and I am very proud of them. Caio DaSilva was able to become a major part of Team Straight Up, winning overall championships and making us proud. Madison Olson has blossomed into a strong and consistent competitor, winning multiple Grand Championships and competing at a high level on Team Infiniti. Its very hard for competitors to continue for a long period of time. The hard work, dedication, occasional disappointments and injuries wear hard of you and so I am very proud that they continue to compete at such a high level, with great success.
I also want to recognize those members of “Team Epic” which gave us such great memories which I hope will also last them a lifetime and to thank them for being a part of my life as well.
Here are some highlights:
UNDERBELT NIGHT SHOW AT THE US CAPITOL CLASSICS
Thanks to the innovation of New England Open (NEO) promoter Joe Greenhalgh, the under belt night show is becoming a staple at the NASKA competitions. It was introduced at the New England Open last year, and this year, in addition to NEO, there have been under belt night shows at The US Open and most recently, at the US Capitol Classics. Team Epic has led the way in each of these shows, this time featuring performances by under belts, Caio Disilva, Madison Olson, Gerard Gagliano and Harry Clark. Team epic is quickly becoming a powerhouse in the under belt competition scene. Joined by Jared Haim’s equally fine performances, these 5 members of Team Epic showed the dedication and determination that has been my own trademark for years. Another great competition for the team !
2015 NEW ENGLAND OPEN
We wanted to do something special this year as a team. For months, every Sunday we practiced to produce a truly professional Demo Team. We decided that at this years “New England Open” (NEO) we would unveil our underbelt demo team and put on a show that everyone would be talking about– and we did. On Friday night at NEO we competed against two other great teams, where one would be eliminated and the other two would compete on stage at the Saturday Night Underbelt night show. Our team got the highest score on Friday night, allowing us to compete on Saturday. Then on Saturday we rocked the stage with a truly professional and very entertaining demo. We earned straight 9.99’s to win the $150.00 pizza party grand prize.
Everyone had a great tournament. Many first place finishes, and just as importantly, many team members making great progress.
Congrats to Gerard on his first ever NASKA first place.
Congrats to Madison and Caio on their stage performances at the Saturday night under belt show, including 9.99’s for Madison.
Congrats to Caio on winning the Overall Forms competition with straight perfect “10’s” from all 7 judges, probably the only under belt to ever get straight “10’s” from 7 judges !!!. Congrats too for the amazing performances by Jessica, Eric M, Eric F, Logan, Harry, Riley, Jared, and of course Brad.
Congrats To Kayla, who in only her first year competing as a Black Belt is already consistently finishing in second and third place against the established black belt competitors. Its only a matter of time until she breaks through and takes charge of the 14-15 girls black belt division.
I am very proud of the hard work that everyone put in so far this year and even prouder that our team has become a well respected professional team with a great work ethic, great sportsmanship and great attitude. We will continue to strive to set an example for the youths following us.
2015 AKA GRAND NATIONALS
I was so proud of my students at Team Epic, who once
again brought home multiple first places in the under belt divisions, and Jessica for moving up to the adult black belt level and showing that she belongs, and finally Kayla in her first real black belt competition with amazing competitors finishing in the top four in just about every division. As the year progresses I look forward to her making a name for herself with many first place finishes. I also want to give special thanks to Sensei Nick Deluca, who took time off from his busy home and business schedule to travel to Chicago to see our Team get their NASKA Awards and to coach them throughout the weekend and support all of us as he always does.
